i recently bought a fender classic 50's and ive noticed the strings dont bend so easily as my old one. On my older one the strings bend almost effortlessly and on this they seem to be more stiff.

do i need thinner strings or what?

You should try to find the brand and gauge of strings that you like most and stick with them. Try D'Addario, Ernie Ball and DR as those are some of the most popular brands.
