Theres a used Vox AC 30 at a local guitar shop goin for $799. I figure this to be a pretty good deal considering these go for nearly $1000 new. my question is if I will be able to get a heavy enough sound out of it to play music along the lines of Foo Fighters, Weezer etc. I have a Boss DS-1 and an SD-1 so could i use these pedals with this amp if the amps gain isn't enough? thanks.

Well being that Weezer uses vox amps I thinks so lol. And yes they get plenty of Distortion just listen to Brian May.

Yeah, getting hard rock tones out of an AC30 shouldnt' be hard, espically the sounds of Weezer and Foo... your petals should be pretty much enough. And have fun with those beautiful clean tones.

i'd have thought weezer should be ok, foos... you could maybe try an eq pedal in addition to an overdrive, but don't expect miracles. I think the foos use vox for cleans, but mesa for distortion- mesa is a totally different distortion tone to a vox.

make sure to try it out with those pedals.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

AC30 for $799? That's a great deal. The amp should be able to do what you want.

Im in a similar position...ive just ordered a Vox AC30cc head, but have to wait until the end of Feb for it.

Ive asked around on here and everyone highly recommended it.

Sorry, I just need someone to confirm that I will be able to get Guns n Roses, Foos, etc out of it? (even with pedals is ok) while I still have time to cancel. I'm worried that it wont suit my needs, and unfortunatley theres no decent shops near me to try one out.

Ive heard its got decent cleans and overdrive and I play a lot of classic rock so thats ok, but i need it to also cope with heavy-ish rock too? Thanks.

Some people say that the ac30 doesn't give the GnR lead tone that slash gets, that's why I'm still on the fence about buying it since I love to play classic rock and blues.

what do you mean?

^ I think he means it's such a good amp, he'd change his style to have one. Or something like that.
