i think i made a thread about this before... but i couldn't find it...

i have this really crappy firstact guitar, and i want to refinish it, because the black looks bad on it, and shows fingerprints and stuff like crazy... plus it's got a few chips in it... but i have a couple of questions about it...

what's the best sand paper grain to use?

what kind of paint can i use? just regular spraypaint, with a clear coat? or is there some kind of specific paint that i need to use?

and what kind of tools will i need?

i'm planning on starting this in about a week or two... or the next time i need to change the strings... so i'll post pictures when i start

You guys really arent helping him. Why post? If he wants to repaint his guitar, let him do it. Who are you guys to try to sway his opinion?

Its experience. Maybe sometime he might open a business as a luthier. Just because you say the guitar is a POS dosent mean he shouldnt have to refinish it.

okay... since you're the only one being helpful... i'm want your opinion on some stuff...

how does dakota red and lake placid metallic blue sound?
http://reranchstore.stores.yahoo.net/dakredaer.html\
http://reranchstore.stores.yahoo.net/lakplacblume.html

or fiesta red and olympic white?
http://reranchstore.stores.yahoo.net/fiestared.html
http://reranchstore.stores.yahoo.net/olympicwhite.html

i'm going to do a stripe pattern if i can (about 1-1.5" stripes)... but if i feel it's too much work, i'll probably just do it in dakota red...

I think the Dakota Red & Olympic White would look better, just because I feel red & blue always 'crashes' to me. Red & white is almost that classic, pristine look. Then again, it's all subjective. Go with what you like

yeah, i'll either go with that or fiesta red and white... but since dakota red is darker, they'll complement each other better... i'll think about it, though...
