I'm looking for a good volume pedal that can allow me to do a sort of 'violin' effect. I'm not too sure what's good or what's bad, I'm just looking for something cheap and decent. I don't need the best. Any ideas?

Also, can someone please describe to me how different a volume swell effect would be vs. a volume pedal? Specifically the difference in how you play and what things you can do with each (pros and cons would be nice).

Thanks!

If you really want a good violin effect, go with a volume pedal and an ebow.

As for volume pedals... I have an Ernie Ball VP Jr and I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm planning on using a delay pedal instead of an ebow.

I've heard Ernie Ball VP twice so I'll be taking that into consideration first.

By the way, I'm planning on playing ambient music, if that helps in any way.

This is probably out of your price range but theres a V Pedal called
Hilton Volume Pedal. It is the best Volume pedal on the market currently. It is made by this one guy (Hilton), and he charges around US$300. It doesn't use Pots like other volume pedals, hence therers almost no loss of tone.

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.
