Well, I just made a really, really simple riff, and I don't know whether or not I should try to build a song out of it. Here it is:

e|-------------------|
B|-------------------|
G|-------------------|
D|-------------------| x4
A|-------------------|
E|--4-0-0-7-5-4-2-5--|

e|-------------------|
B|-------------------|
G|-------------------|
D|-------------------| x4
A|----7-7------------|
E|--4-----7-5-4-2-5--|

e|--4-0-0-7-5-4-2-5--|
B|-------------------|
G|-------------------|
D|-------------------| x4
A|-------------------|
E|-------------------|

All eighth notes. No fancy timing or anything, all very simple.

So, is this a good riff or should I just dispose of it?

Also, I just wrote this riff as well:

e|------3h5p3------3h7p3------5p3h5------7=p3--|
B|----3----------3----------3----------3-------|
G|--0----------0----------0----------0---------|
D|---------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------|

Usable? Disposable? Fixable?

Oh, and crit for crit.

I like the first one sounds really good, though I think you should change the last 5 to a 4. Just my opinion. Sounds liek an intro to a nice mellow rock song. Good job!

Actually I have the "5" instead of the "4" cause, since it repeats, I don't want to have 4 as the unaccented last note then repeated again on the downbeat (seems like it would lose its power).

The second one is really nice sounding to me. I'd try to build on it.
