Pretty kvlt folky doom band with female vocals (which will tear your face open).

Runhild Gammelsæter (vocals), Jamie Sykes (battledrums), Greg Anderson (drones and sunns), James Hale (subsonic attack) & Steve O'Malley (crust and earth)

Thorr's Hammer is good, but the Polish Thor's Hammer is better:

Aren't these guys supposed to be NSBM? I found a link to them on some nationalist-socialist site. But they don't sound BM on the MySpace

/so confused

I think I've seen a thread on them a while ago but whatever. Maybe I dreamed it (yeah I've dreamed about UG before).

I don't particularly like them. Not sure why though.

The only advantage of home-schooling is that it gives you good reason to commit suicide.

Hit this once or twice, and you'll be twice as nice.

OH. I figured it out.

Thor's Hammer is NSBM.

Thorr's Hammer (band this thread is about) is someone else entirely. lol

Thorr's Hammer are a perfect example of how doom/death SHOULD be played. IE without all the weepy crap that My Dying Turd put out on each album.

^MDB is highly gothic influenced, so of course their is "weepy" crap, as you put it. And last time I checked, it was bands like MDB, Paradise Lost, and Katatonia (first release), all "weepy" bands, who pioneered this genre, so how is this how it's supposed to be played? Good band, by the way.

Didn't a guy from this band start Sunn 0))) or something like that.

they seem cool... to bad they rose up quickly then died...
I was here for a while.

Then I was gone.

Now I'm back cause Obama.

Gothic Metal came about after MDB et al, so if one was influence by the other, it was the other way round. And don't get me wrong, I REALLY like early Paradise lost, but that always focused more on heavy, solid riffing, rather than saturating the music with keyboards and violins. In fact I don't have a problem with doom-death at all, just when everyone harps on about how great MDB apparently are.
In terms of 'pioneering' doom-death, I always considered the band that kicked it off to be Dream Death, who were literally a cross between 80's doom metal and early death metal. So stuff like Thorr's Hammer and Thy Grief Eternal is, in my mind, how it should be played.

But w/e.

Been about a month or two since I've listened to Dommedagsnatt, and God damn is it amazing doom.

I want to try that while playing the opening riff to "Tempting Time".

0-0-0-13-0-0-0-0-13 or something like that alalalala but It;s so heavy and off time and awesome and you could not f**k anyone to it.

These don't sound like very good ambitions when driving...Judas Priest makes people want to go 200 mph, and Realm of Chaos is now an album for ramming shit. You are dangerous, dangerous people.

This was my initial reaction to seeing this thread, and I don't even really like Thor's Hammer. As a general rule, Black Metal from Eastern Europe is garbage.

You would be correct, although I'll be completely honest when I say that dISEMBOWLEMENT are only the occasional listen for me.

And I believe that occasion is right now, actually.

TH is incredible, the riffs are absolutely massive and the song writing is simple but so well done. diSEMBOWELMENT is nothing short of fantastic.

Thorr's Hammer kind of sounds like Coffins without the fast parts
