My best mate, Mark owns a music shop.

So I get a 20% discount on everything.

And I got a new bass for christmas, with completely dead insides.

So I took it down there for him to look at for me.

And he said I could have entirly new electrics that he would order in for me, for just 18 quid, around $35 I think.

Now, as far as I can tell, this is a good deal.. erm.. is it?

I'm new to dis-membering guitars and putting them back together and stuff.

20%??

If he really was really your best friend, he'd let you buy stuff from the stock price he gets them for.

But at my music shop i go to because most of the band buys stuff from that shop and regular visitors... we bought a bass head for $400 and the shop bought it for $380.... good deal? i'd say so

20%? that's not much for a "best friend" discount.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Was the bass bought from his shop? If it was, and hes charging you to get it fixed, i sugest you insert the bass into his rectum.

Or if it wasn't from his shop, and if the parts are decent, take it.

Why? I get stuff for cost price or even less from work, our neighbour will get us car parts for cost and won't charge for labour. It's all down to whether the owner is willing to lose a little bit of profit for a lot of reputation.

Well actually he wouldn't be If he sold his items are the prices he buys tehm for to you then hes only making a net gain of 0. So in reality hes losing money just by selling you a couple items for the dealer price.

btw 35 bucks is a ripoff if it doens't include pickups
