metal = roland cube 60 ALL THE WAY

the line 6 will not suit your needs for metal or any other genre for that matter, line 6 doesnt start making quality amps until about $600-700

The Spider amps are the worst amps Line 6 has to offer. Their high end modeling amps are nice, but the low end stuff is just garbage. The Roland cubes are perfect for metal, without emptying your wallet.

cube 60 is the best for only metal...

If you want versatility, give the Vox AD series a thought....

Even for metal, it may be worth a look...

The cube 30 is almost identical to the 60, aside from the obvious drop in wattage. It's just under $300 at musiciansfriend.com. It won't be the best choice for a band, since 30 watts will most likely be drowned out by drums. Theres not many good amps loud enough to play with a band for under $300. If you can, definitely go for the cube 60 if you play metal. For any other genres go with one of the Vox Valvetronix series. They can cover just about any genre, but the Cube can give you a better metal tone.
