Hi,
I just have a quick question. Is there a certain way that chords are normally 'picked' (playing one string at a time instead of all of the notes in the chord at once)? I was playing 'One Crowded Hour' by Augie March using chords found on this website, but the chords in the song are picked rather strummed.

but what sequences are usually used to pick the strings in or is it just random?

Depends on how the composer wants it to sound.

Those songs are called arpeggios. The songs aren't just randomly picked, they're usually picked in a pattern over and over again.
