Well, we have a keyboard player in our band now. He is good at keyboard but we don't really know any songs with keyboard. We are gonna learn Trampled Underfoot by Zeppelin and No More Tears by Ozzy.

Anyway, the point of this thread is for people to give some song ideas with keyboard in them.
#2
Almost any Deep Purple, especially the new version of Smoke on the Water with Steve Morse.
Him > Satriani and Vai IMO.

^Yeah, we only want to play stuff which the keyboard stands out in (like Trampled Underfoot). Him sounds like a good idea, i didn;t think of it before. Also, im gonna get him to learn Lazy by Deep Purple. What other Deep Purple songs have keyboards in them that stands out?

Anything by the horrors.
they're on myspace.
maybe some 80s stuff? or possibly some Doors?
Jump - van halen? if you can manage
ORR if hes soo good then let him make up his own keyboard parts.

just dont play anything by kaledon. unless you like being laughed at. http://youtube.com/watch?v=o7ScdzpWsdc

As for a serious suggestion, you could do pretty much any song from the eighties, or adjust existing songs to work with keyboard. The second one is more work, but it might be the best idea.

Anything by the Stranglers.
And like a few people have said anything form the 80s.

If he's awesome, and the rest of your band is awesome - do some Dream Theater

Muse is good... suppose its more piano than actually synth keyboard, but it'd still be decent. 'Specailly if you're into arpeggios

Jet and Muse both have some cool piano bits. Well, jet doesnt have really complex ones, but its noticable.

The ones where it really stands out are like, ben folds stuff i guess. Im gonna be learning a few of them i think, if i can play them.

Lots of Dream Theater.

Dance on a Volcano- Genesis
That song has some fucking awesome keyboard solos.

I should have mentioned this earlier, he loves music like the beatles. Plus, he would hate stuff like Dream Theater (which most of their stuff is next to impossible to play good).Stuff like the Doors, zeppelin and that stuff should be good, and i'll slowly convert him to heavier rock.

PS, id love to play stuff like Dream Theater and Children of Bodom, but the drummer can't play off-beat stuff at all, not even soundgarden stuff.

yeah, listen to a lot of 'The Doors' live stuff. keyboard is awesome. some of its proper creepy too, esp on all the different live versions of 'the end'
#39
Children of bodom has the sickest keyboards ever. Even solos.
A lot of Gothic bands has some sick keyboards if your into that kinda stuff.
#40
^nah, i'm not into that. I listen to stuff like Guns N Roses, Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Metallica, all the way up to stuff like Dream Theater and Children of Bodom (only death metal band I like). I also love the Kings Of Leon, best new group around at the moment i think.
