Currently I'm using a Mesa Boogie F-50 Combo amp and I love it and all but I need some major improvements I think. I'm looking for suggestions on tips to improve my tone through pre-amps, pedals, or anything like that. Or tweaks to the existing amp if possible. Other info that might help:

Main guitars are a Gibson SG Special stocked and Fender Strat with an Invader pickup, rest stock
Pedals: Boss Delay/echo

I'm not a huge fan of effects in my playing so I keep it pretty basic but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

What kind of effects do you want? Price range on these effects?

Get a chorus pedal. I have a crappy practice amp, and I got a boss ch-1 and it actually made my guitar sound much better. and my amp.
Gear:
Epi Les Paul Custom (Ebony)
Boss CH-1 Chorus
Ibanez Weeping Demon

i'm looking for a nicer, cleaner (hear notes clearly), studio like tone. I know I need a noise gate but not sure how to get much more. As for a price, I can pay about 500-600 for everything

I assume your amp has a master volume and normal volume? In this case, turn the normal volume all the way up (this is the preamp volume) while using the master volume to control your volume. Also:

What are you lacking in your sound?

And crank the amp, that always helps.

How about a wah? Those are fun. Also, maybe try a BBE Sonic Stomp- but I think those are really designed for crappy amps...

I'd suggest an overdrive and a wah. If you want high end stuff go with the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 and Fulltone Clyde, IMO anyways.

He's got a Mesa Boogie, if he's having trouble sounding good, an overdrive pedal ain't gonna fix it.
