A friend of mine uses a Line 6 Toneport and this is what he recommends.

I want a way to record but I do not want to use some programs settings.

Basically I want what comes out of my amp when I play to be recorded (I'm using a Boss GT-6 and a Crate GLX65 amp, if that makes any difference)

I was told I can do this with the Toneport (basically plug my amp into the toneport and record to get exactly what I hear from my amp)

Is this true?

Or, is there something else someone would recommend to record onto my computer that will not effect the sound? (no extra distortion or effects or anything)

NaivexLi is anything but naive. His post was a pretty good source of info.

the toneport can act as just an interface, all you do is bypass the effects and you get the amps natural sound with the toneports interface
