Well I'm in need of some sort of overdrive pedal I believe. I own a Marshall MG100DFX and it sounds fine except the overdrive is kinda weak. It's just not crunchy enough, so I'm in the market for a pedal. Any suggestions? I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, soon buying an Ibanez, and I play stuff like: Pantera, Trivium, Megadeth etc. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Okay, could you provide a detailed reasoning and why it is better than other pedals?

One thing: although Tubescreamers are great pedals, you won't get the same tone out of an MG as you will out of a proper tube amp. Overdrive pedals should be used with tube amps, distortion pedals with solid state. A distortion pedal might be better suited for your needs.

Tube screamer sounds good through just about any amp. They have a very natural sounding overdrive compared to a lot of other pedals. Some pedals claim to give you the ultimate distortion but sound like they have way to much drive. I have a tubescreamer, and IMO it is great.

Best bet, go to a guitar shop, and try the different units they have available.

PS - Do not buy a boss XT2. I also have one of these and i am willing to pay someone to destroy it so it can never be heard again!

Look at the Marshall ones, the Guv'nor and Jackhammer. Those are each $70(I think), and they get nice sounds.

But you can only cover your MG up so much.

Price isn't really a factor since most pedals don't exceed a few hundred.

You want overdrive, not distortion right? I'd check out the Fulltone OCD or Fulldrive 2. I have a FD2 Mosfet edition and you can get a pretty nice distortion/overdrive out of it. The OCD is supposed to be amazing also. Think about getting a tube amp too.
