How do I get a good sound out of it? When i slap it, it plays the note but really low so i can barly hear it. Is there anyway to fix this?

You might have your action too low, your pickup too high, or maybe your bass isn't suited to slapping.

Some basses (in my experience, most basses with a Jazz pickup nearer to the bridge) are just better suited to slap-bass.

Most p-bass style basses (especially the Squier starter kit bass, and the Ibanez starter kit bass) aren't suited to punchy sounds; they're typically more suited to pick-playing though.

Ahh, that probally why then, I have a p-bass set up >.< Ok thank you guys.

You can still practice your slapping though. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't sound exactly like your idols; just keep practicing until you achieve a comfortable slapping technique.

And then get a bass with a bridge pickup and let the funk fly
