After yet another Les Paul vs Stratocaster thread, I thought I'd actually compare some instruments that are actually worth putting up against each other. This one's for all you old time rock n roll, delta blues and Rockabilly/punk players. Vote for your favourite Hollowbody/semi hollow/thinline. This is not a statisticaly comprehensive poll, I just included the stuff I've had a chance to jam on when I have a lust for f holes. If you have another old school hollowbody that you love, tell us all about it, the poll's just the one's I've played.

Hoffner(I think these are originals, I've only had the pleasure of playing re-issues

The poll isn't comprehensive, it just includes the nice hollowbodies that the nice man at the guitar shop lets me play. Cecil Gonzalez' guitar looks wicked. Keep the pics coming guys.

Yamaha has a decent buget priced semi-hollowbody, the SA500...the one I've got. It's nice...

How did you not include the Gibson 335. That is my favorite hollowbody of all time. My goodness. And there isnt even an 'other' option. This thread fails.

I like the clean looks of the Epi. Plus I'm a huge Beatles fan...

Give 10 UGers a rope and ask them to pull. 4 will push, 1 will ask for buttsecks, 2 will tell you get an Ibanez and the last 3 will start complaining about Line6 Spiders.

I like the Epiphone Sheraton quite a bit, but Gretschs are hard to beat. I still like the Thinline Telecaster the best.

Gibson ES - 335 are awesome. And artcore series guitars are not better then epiphone casino, sheraton or even dots. The epi's have better pick ups whereas the artcore models have interior construction similar to violin, which give it a better acoustic sound. Artcores sound dull to me; did not like them at all.

tbh im not a massvie fan of hollowbodys, i dont like them because they are usually really big, and im not a massive fan on the look of the thinline tele but out of them id say tele
#34
finally someone mentioned some REAL hollowbodies, like d'angelico and benedetto. IMO, full hollowbodies are extremely sexy. the only problem is their extremely expensive all in the same sentence. maybe i'll look into the artcores, but i have a feeling i'll just GAS for something like an eastman or something like that, like a currently am

I'd love one of those... along with a Rickenbacker 360 and a Gibson ES-335. Shame I haven't got a spare £5000 really.
