They can be a cause of Arthritis later in life if done too often, but other than that, no...

No, it doesn't cause arthritis if that's what your going for. If anything cracking your knuckles just before you start playing is good because it instantly relaxes the muscles and makes them easier to move, but the effect lasts a short while.

Yes you were
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

That's an old wives tale.
I'm a chronic knuckle cracker. It probably gets annoying for everyone else, but I can't help it.
If you could blow up the world with a flick of a switch,
Would you do it?

If you could make everybody poor just so you could be rich,
Would you do it?

With all your power,
What would you do?

No, it won't do anything. The only way cracking your knuckles could leave to joint issues is if you overworked them and ****ed up the cartilage in your joints, but just simply cracking your knuckles is harmless.

It's CO2 being released from between the cartlidge in your joints.

My friend's mom said it was bone marrow. I asked how marrow is supposed to be released and magically come back into the joint. She was all like "Well how is air supposed to???" Which leads to a good question. Once the air is gone, how does it find its way back?

cracking your knuckles is actually releasing air in you knuckles that why you heard it like a fart lol

It's fluid. Not air.

Yeah, you wont get arthritis, but i read that if you keep doing, your hands become weaker like, 30-40 years after you started or something. Unless you're like B.B King, who is about 82(?) it shouldn't really be a problem

As already mentioned, cracking your knuckles does not cause arthrisis, but I have read and have been told that a long term effect of cracking knuckles is the weakening of the ligaments in your fingers.

In that case, my career as a guitarist is fvcked!
