I have a dell usb mouse that I want to use with my toshiba laptop. Whenever I pulg it in, it goes through a full instalation process, ending in it saying that I don't have the proper software. Any idea where to get this software?

Thanks in advance

You shouldn't really need software. Did it come with another computer? Might be Dell's way of preventing it being used elsewhere.

What is the OS on the laptop? It is older than Windows 2000? Older OS' sometimes require you to install USB drivers to use the USB.

No, I'm using windows XP

Hmmm, that is weird as hell. I have a pretty fancy 5-button mouse that doesn't even require special software. Does the mouse do this on any other computer?
