Boss DD-6 is a bit more versatile, but delay pedals in general are expensive bastards. Look for a used one on eBay

EDIT: Line 6 Echo Park, although probably out of your price range, is awesome. Again, look on eBay. There's gotta be a few

i've had my eye on the mesa boogie line, my price range is under $600.

maybe you could buy a picture of one for 600, and just pretend for awhile...

The Marshall Echohead is also a very nice pedal. I have one, and I prefer it over both the Boss DD-3 and DD-6.

BOSS DD-6 is better, IMO. Check out the Echopark too.

Boss DD3/6/20 are great pedals. the DD20 is on sale for 180. a little outta your range but a killer pedal.

Buy the Boss Midget-in-a-Box-with-a-Guitar-and-Amplifier-that-copies-your-every-note. It sounds awesome
