I'm unsure about buying a guitar off my mate, just wanted some opinions on it.

It's a MiM Fender Stratocaster, about 6-7 years old but in great condition. Just a single body dent and a tiny chip near the nut.

It's got a rudimentary hard case with it, nothing special but holding up.

New in England you're looking at about £300ish. He wants £180. What do you reckon?

good deal, but make sure that what u want is a strat
because i got one and dont get me wrong its great on clean but it sucks on distortion, i figured i could make it work but its harder than it sounds

We have our band practise sessions at his house (his brother is our drummer) so I've played it through my amp and it sounds cracking when distorted, seems like it was made for it.

Strat + Tube Amp = Excellent.

Huh, I hated the single coils on mine. Way too bright clean, and no muscle and muddy with distortion. I put a Seymour Duncan TB-4 in it and its the best of both worlds. Great cleans with volume rolled back, and great for distortion as well.

I've got my Ibanez for more snarly riffs though. To be honest, combined with my Tubescreamer, it's plenty versatile.

I think I'm going to get it, just going to leave it a couple of weeks to save a bit of spare cash.
