The guys from Between The Buried and Me, the dudes from Trivium, the guys from Coheed & Cambria. I don't know any of their names, but they're all killers on the guitar.

I could understand Travis and Claudio from Coheed, but Corey and Matt from Trivium? Are you mad?
LOL

Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean they suck. Have you heard some of the guitar work in their songs?

I posted the same thread like a week ago. But I'd say Herman Li if you want speed. BTBAM if you want super heavy. Frusciante for hooks and flow.

Actually yes I have. There is nothing that impressive about power chords and Maiden-esque harmonies. But I'll give you Coheed. Those guys own.

Bah, I'm done with you, but that solo in Anthem is far from "power-chords and Maiden harmonies".

Meh, might just be my taste. I just don't care too much for metalcore.

Listen to some of the songs off the new album, the lead work is pretty damn good.

Anyway Id say Herman Li, Trivium Duo and Alexi Laiho. Im leaving lots out but I cant bothered to think.

And although he is great John Frusciante isnt last 5-7 years.

If I recall correctly, Froosh rejoined RHCP in 99-00 which pretty much falls into that era. Plus, they've released 2 album since the new millenium.

Frusciante was also active before 2000 so he can't be mentioned either

And he's active after 2000 too.
