well theres a 4 string bass in a local second hand store, well more like a pwn shop, i cant remember the make, it could be encore, im not sure, and its cheap, cheap for a bass that is, would it be possible(with now hardware, finish, pickups, to convert it into a 5 string bass?

Would be much cheaper to buy a five string bass.

It is possible, if you change the neck, and the bridge. So, it's a lot cheaper to buy a used 5-string


edit: forgot to add, you'd have to get new pups as well.

^ Not to mention the ass load of body work you'll have to do, probably a refinish too.
