Hey UG.

As my good guitar is at school, I picked up my trusty Squier today. But there's a problem.

On the b string, anywhere in between the 12th and 21st fret, when I bend even slightly it just chokes out the note. I can't figure out what's going on.

Any ideas?

the action would be too low, screw the screwsx up a lil bit, and it should hopefully sort it

OK ... and I'd do that how?

And yes I know I suck at this

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it.

He told you how. Screw the screws on the saddles so that they raise. Try to raise them all evenly.

action......or the fact it's a squier

dont be dissin the squiers. i like mine, and it was the last guitar i bought.

Look down the neck to see if its like bowed. If it is then you need the trus rod adjusted. Or just get a american strat.

you were adjusting the wrong thing! not the intonation, the action! on top of the saddles!

the circled pegs adjust the action for each saddle.

under it adjustes string length , intonation, tuning along the board.

get a click pen take the spring out and use it in the missing springs place.
put the saddles back on. intonate and adjust the height of that string with a tiny allen wrench.

and stop laughing.

maybe its the neck but not the rod save and buy some vintage neck but if thats not helping and adjusting the saddles are not either then buy a new system for them

you shouldnt have tried to fix by yourself in the first place. you should have went to a tech and see how he did it if you had the chance and then learn from it.

seriously guys, he just needed to raise one saddle. it's not rocket science.

it's just that instead, he managed to unscrew two intonation screws, and somehow laugh until the springs bounced away.

It's hard if you're doing it for the first time ever at 11 pm whilst slightly drunk.

It's not so funny anymore.

of course, it could be the frets - i had a similar issue with my SG, took it to be adjusted, ended up having to have the frets levelled - plays like a dream now.
