Has anybody here had any experience with half-round strings? I was recommended these as opposed to the normal flatwound strings on my fretless bass. I'm aware that it may cause dents and such in the neck, but other than that, what's your outlook on these? They seem pretty cool, since you can get the low bassy sound while being able to pull off slapping and popping as well.

Keep in mind, even flatwounds will damage a fretboard over time... it just so happens that they damage fretboards the slowest.

I've never played halfs, but I epoxied my fingerboard and strung it with Rotosound RS66 (a la Jaco) and never looked back. I totally recommend it if you can find a place that does epoxying.

I was looking at a used Warwick Vampyre LTD 5'er for about $200. I went home to grab my wallet and came back and some jerk with an epic beard got it already..
