I have no idea where this would go, but since it's mainly bout guitar I'll put it here...

I've always wondered how John Frusciente(SP) plays live, because in a lot of their songs theree is more than one gutiar at the same time...
so for those of you who play live, or for those that know...

Does he use a looper, does he just omit some parts, or what?

What songs are you talking about?
No loopers though, he just usually plays the main part.

Well like for instance, in the Stadium Arcadium album alone I can think of a few songs that have rythm and lead going at the same time, or trills/ hammer-n's/pull-offs going in the background...

Dani California
Stadium Arcadium
there's more I know of, jsut can't think of them at the moment..

A lot of bands just hire session guitarists to fill these parts!, Coz you cant see them, dont mean they're not there, usually just to the side of the stage.

^I can't think at all of when that happens live....

Anyway, John just plays the main riffs/parts, sounds good enough.

Mainly smaller bands use them, though ive seen session guitarists working with a number of bands just to produce the right sound live!

Nope, no session players for RHCP, that's for sure.

Basically, he plays the main lead part live, while, very rarely, using the delay thing... But generally John + Flea = more than enough
for rent

I believe he used a looper live once when he was attempting Dosed.

A lot of the stuff he plays live is completely different than what is on the album- especially solos and stuff. It fills more space with one guitar, as opposed to albums where he can use minimal parts layered on top of each other.

i saw rhcp jan 31...it was the most amazing experience of my life...they played as good..or better as recorded...frusciante just blew away the crowd with his playing...especially the solos and 20minute jam at the end.

I'm seeing the Chili Peppers this Friday, I can't wait. I saw them back in November when they toured with The Mars Volta, too. TMV used a backup guitarist, but RHCP didn't.

Nickelback uses Timmeh (Chad's tech) for some of their stuff. The piano parts on some of their songs, and as a 3rd guitar from time to time as well.
