Prince's tone during the halftime show was quite impressive. So is KsE's tone.

Ya, anything of SRV is amazing.

John Mayer as well. http://www.johnmayer.com/blog

Check that out, and look down about a 1/3 of the way, you will find a Two-Rock signature amp demo thing. Now that is good tone, and quite the improv as well.

justin, that was easily the most inspiring, helpful piece of advice anyone has ever given me in regards to my musical pursuits.

You're joking right?

You all should be beaten, 19 posts and no mention of David Gilmour?!?

there are loads of good tones that I dig, though.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

EVH tone on Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love is my hero.
James Hetfield on Disposable Heroes for rhythm, no challengers, though Dime on Drag The Waters is close.
Speaking of Dime, the solos in Hollow and Floods have incredible tones.
Dave Mustaine on Take No Prisoners is classic
Alex Skolnick in the first half of the Return To Serenity solo

For clean tones, you can't touch Brad Paisley.
#28
Jimmy page on Thank You from the BBC sessions.
and Slash on Don't Cry
#29
David Gilmour should read "tones" (with an 's') rather than tone ......

Some of my favorites:
Duane Allman
Eric Johnson
SRV
Billy Gibbons
Richard Betts
Brian May
