the 'vii' part means the seventh chord in a key, and the 'o' means diminished, and the 7 means the seventh.

Example: in the key of C you'd play a B dimished 7th.

It means fully diminished seventh seventh chord (that isn't a typo). It is part of the harmonic minor scale. The seventh chord of the harmonic minor scale is a fully diminished chord.

Ex.
In A harmonic minor, the seventh is G#. The G# chord is fully diminished, meaning it contains the intervals 1 b3 b5 bb7 (enharmonic to 6), and thus, it contains the notes G# B D F.

In a major key, the seven chord is not fully diminished.

Right, you can disregard my post other than the 'explain?' part - brain fart. Thanks for clearing this up for my poor, unelightened soul
