Right.. i'm looking for some kind of solution so that I can play at night using headphones...

I was tempted to buy a PODXT purely for this purpose.. but that's £200 just to play using headphones.

Is there any other cheaper alternatives that have really good tones?

The effects on those are just horrendous. The drums are the only cool part of the RP multi effects. I know, I had one.

Seems like you couldn't program it right then.

Hey, I just listened to you play, and though I'm not a huge blues fan, that was sweet!

I had the thing for quite some time and after a while realized how much it sucked. Single pedals > Multi-Effects.

Meh, I've had it for 3 years and JUST realized its potential, but everyone has their own opinion. Oh, and JL Shredder, thanks for the praise, appreciate it.

Tech21 sansamp is another solid option.
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.
