Once I saw someone try to seriously give someone "the vulcan death grip". That was the dumbest thing I'd ever seen until I saw this thread.

I use fender 351 celluloid picks. Medium guage

Advantages:
-Good size
-Feels comfortable
-Medium guage is just right. I don't like fat picks

Disadvantages:
-Wear out if you play standing (cos I hit the strings at an angle)
-Snap rather than bend
#7
I use dunlop black, used to use orange, then yellow, never liked green (just to hard).
#8
Brain grey or blue

they have great grip, they wear down slowly and they're just the right thickness for me (grey is 1,00 and blue is 1,60)

Her: Facial expression was priceless - "What??! Noo!"

Me: "Well if you want to keep it that way, **** off."

She then turned away and whimpered.

i prefer the blue tortex, though a pick made of bone sounds the nicest and the most warm, i prefer fingers. it's the same with sex, it goes a bit smoother with one... but feel a ton times better without one.

well we all know tube picks sound a lot warmer and have more harmonics. but they're so damn expensive.

Dunlop Jazz III's first, Tortex blue second. It depends on what mood I'm in. The only thing about the Tortex are they sound deader compared to the jazz III's.
And when warming up or just doing scale runs, it's the Stylus pick all the way. If you haven't tried these things, get on Ebay and get yourself some. Your picking will improve in a week, I swear!! These aren't really picks...they're training devices. They teach you to use a pick the right way. If you do it right, it glides...do it wrong, and it'll snag the string and bring you to a dead stop!! It teaches you not to dig so deep so you only use the very tip. Try them...I dare you!!!

I used to always use ultex 1.0s, then moved down to tortex greens, then now I've settled with the yellows and some .55 firstact picks.
