I've had a compressor in my RP100 for a while now, but I can't for the life of me figure out what its for.

Not in the manual either.

Could someone enlighten me?

a compressor "compresses" the input sound...
...this means if u play too loud or too quiet - the compressor will balance all those different volumes to an optimal ....
...now depending on the settings u put on it it could take away dynamics from the song all the way - or just a lil...

usually turning a compressor on will also affect the tone a lil
How would you like to be an egg? You only get laid once. It takes 4 minutes to get hard, 2 minutes to get soft. You share your box with 9 other guys. But worst of all: the only chick that ever sat on your face was your mother. So cheer up...

Don't forget...... it adds sustain !!
Tone is all ...... well probably 75%, in your fingers.
The rest depends on your wallet's thickness !!

Keep the faith, baby!!
