for music we gotta learn and perform a song its spose to be a jazz song. i wanna find an interesting song which isnt boring chords etc, but i dont know what to do!!! i dont want something which is easy i dont want something extremely hard. so u know what i would be able to play, i can play Classical Gas the whole way through, nothing else matters by metallica, starry night joe satriani, hundreds of 12-bar blues variations lol, a few 8 bar blues stuff.

but i need a jazz song, so please give me some ideas. thankyou

u understand in most jazz, the guitar isn't the "main" instrument. Guitars are usually for rythym. I don't mean that there aren't jazz solos and stuff on guitar, but commonly guitars are for rythym and saxaphones or other wind instruments are more commonly the soloing instruments.

If you want guitar lead..

try some Pat Methany, Al Dimeola, Frank Gambale, or even Wes Montgomery..

Typically speaking "pure jazz" of course...

Once you get into the world of Fusion its completely different.

How would you like to be an egg? You only get laid once. It takes 4 minutes to get hard, 2 minutes to get soft. You share your box with 9 other guys. But worst of all: the only chick that ever sat on your face was your mother. So cheer up...

Blues != Jazz.

Listen to Blind Blake. Listen to Ornette Coleman.

Yeah, same thing.

Chameleon. More funk, but whatever, it's a beast.
Or play Take Five, it's also a beast, and in 5/4 time.
Peace.
#27
**** jazz, play Cowboys From Hell!

But for serious, think outside the box of jazz, play some old 50's R&B.

Do an awesome improv version of giant steps by John Coltrane. Just get a chord chart and play them as the base and do little fills and solos in between to make it interesting.
