I want a new bridge pickup for my RG1570. It's what I use for metal soloing, usually Metallica type sound, but more importantly, rhythm. I want a mean low-end, Tool sort of sound when I'm pumping rhythm. Basically, I want IMPACT out of the pickup. Having listened to sound clips, read old threads etc I think I want a DiMarzio D-Sonic.

Any reasons why I should not get this pickup, or why I'd be better suited to something else? The amp I use for this guitar is the Engl Thunder combo.

Adam from Tool uses a Duncan JB, if you're looking specifically for that tone.
The D-sonic is more like Petrucci's tone. It can also be fit forward and backward depending on what sort of tone you're looking for. If you want tight and aggressive mount it with the bar toward teh bridge. Warmer and thicker mount it the other direction.
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

Cheers, yeah I wouldn't complain with a Petrucci tone. I'm gonna go the D-Sonic.
