Just wondering what you guys think of solo boosters or volumes boosts, are they needed or just a waste of pedal board space?
an example of a song it would be used on is smells like teen spirit.

They aren't just a waste of space. When playing with a band, you definitely need that little boost to make a solo heard.

i think there essential, it really helps you be heard and not get lost in the mix.

Yup, that one is one of the classic boosters on which many others have been based. That said, they're all very similar and just increase the volume of your signal, nothing more. You can't really go wrong with any of them in my opinion

I wouldnt do a gig without one if you play lead guitar. I use the Boss GE-7 graphic eq coz it gives me a lot more control over the overall sound.

they are very usefull, the mxr micro-amp is a great booster for extra gain when soloing

Very useful, if you want a part louder or more saturated, step on it. I've got one, I'll use it whenever.

Yeah I've now realised I think I could do with one....

Played a school concert the other day, when going into the Hotel California solo I had to turn the volume up quickly beforehand by bending down.

a pedal would've been a lot easier

yeah, they're good. and they actually drive tubes harder if you're looking for a little more gain, too.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.
