How come everyone seems to hate Spider II's?

I have to play through one at church, their cleans suck. Their effects sound like crap, and it's just not good.

I don't like them because (typically) they're cheaply made, they have a lot of feedback, don't have effects that suit my needs and sound very digital. For a hundred more you could buy a Vox or a Roland which is much nicer.

I was wondering because I have a pair of spider II's, and I didn't find anything wrong with them. I'm not a huge fan of the tone either, so I usually just put it on clean and run a distortion pedal into it. But It's not like they blow.

But it seemed like everyone thought they sucked, so I was like, WTF?

I like 'em. The cleans aren't great, but the distortion is kickass. So. Yeah.

There are no boring scales, just boring guitarists.
