E
E-------------------------------| Then it shifts up to the key
B-------------------------------| of E...
G--9---7--------------------7-|
D-----------7h9---7---7h9---|
A-7---7---7-----7---7--------|
E-------------------------------|

Could someone explain what is meant to shift up to the key of E and how would I know if it took place with out the message?

Thanks

You're just moving the shape into the key of E, so in this case, shift the notes up two frets.

Yea, thats just a bunch of E5 chords...

EDIT: nevermind, I read it wrong. But yea its already in E.

indeed, you'll see this by the root note or tonic, this one being E on the 5th string so if it would say 'move this to the key of D' although I don't think it would, because such a change would sound bad, you just move the E on the 5th to the D on the 5th (5th fret) as simple as that
