chorus pedals sound best with cleans, IMO. What they do is digitally replicate and slightly detune the original signal so that it sounds like more than one guitar is playing simultaneously. Cranked, a chorus can sound like a light flange or phasing effect.

it kinda gives the sound of more than one guitar playing at once by haveing a very very short delay time
