I like GHS. I recently got GHS Extra light and the High E string sounds SICK! However, since my rythm guitar has regular strings its a pain to retune and stuff.

Anything with a pure nickel wrap. Anything else sounds dull and kills your frets.

steel strings

wound for the 3 thickest

Well I like Dean Markley as they do a set with a wound 3rd which makes it sound much chunkier, especially for power chords.

(Other mfrs might do sets with a wound 3rd by the way but DMs are the one's I've used for a while).
