Hellooo UGers...

Need some help from all of you. Looking to buy a new amp, making the transition to tube as I've been playing for about three years and I feel it's time to upgrade from my shitty Marshall Valvestate!

My budget is around £800 (around $1500), and I play a Schecter S-1 Elite. I either need a combo or a head and 2x12 cab, as I play rehearsals and small gigs. Around 50 watts tops should be more than enough.

I play mainly hard rock, punk, and hardcore. I need a versatile amp because I obviously am looking for a killer distortion, but I value cleans very much. Here are the sounds I'm looking for:

DISTORTION - Based on my various amp tryouts so far, I'm looking for something a bit like a JCM-800, but gainier, and with more bass and lower mids. So I'm guessing that means I'm looking for EL34's, not too much pre-amp gain, that I can possibly push from the front-end with an OD pedal to get that cranked, pushed gain, but with slightly less bright sounding and with slightly less prominent mids/trebles.

CLEAN - Looking for a rounder, fuller, warmer type clean (I think that's "bell-like" instead of "glassy"?!) I don't like thin-sounding, trebly mids. I'm looking for my cleans to stay clean, as I'm not looking for any sort of clean crunch, so I'm guessing the cleans need headroom.

The amps I'm thinking about so far are:

* JCM-800 with an EQ pedal and OD pedal. Don't know what to do for cleans though.
* Laney GH50L
* Orange Rocker 30
* ENGL Screamer
* Marshall DSL-50
* Fender Hot Rod Deluxe + OD pedal.

Thoughts on these? Other suggestions? Thanks!

IMO JCM800 hands down, i was going to suggest it before even seeing your list at the bottom. Also, i don't see what issue there is with cleans? The JCM800 has good cleans, or at least 'Marshally'

I was so glad when my cat got spayed. Everytime I was near her she meowed and bent over wanting me to stick it in her. Really gross.

orange rocker for me, i love that amp...
A recent study shows that 8% of teenagers listen to nothing but music with guitars in it. Put this in your sig if you're one of the 92% who aren't close-minded morons.

Go with the jcm800

edit: you should get that kind of cleans on a marshall when bass is 8+

Orange Rocker or Engl Screamer. I see them in a different league to be honest.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Orange Rocker 30

Get the head/half stack not the combo though
Dave Mustain has wrote some of the most amazing solos...
That he can't actually play!

The Blackmore is a bit out of my price range... I could just about afford the head, but I'd need a cab too, and that'd put me over budget...

ah, ok. you can get a half decent 2x12 for about £200, i think (the framus one on thomann), but maybe that's still over budget.

I think it's the closest engl to what you want, though the screamer (or maybe thunder, though I haven't tried that one) may do what you want.

best bet is trying them, obviously.

I just got the ENGL scremer for £480 with the Z4 footswitch. I got the Framus 212 with V30s in it as it was £180 more for the ENGL cab with the same speakers.

It sounds fantastic!
