I'm still on dial up because of my location, and I'm looking for a hardware modem with its own cpu, as compared to a Win modem that uses the computers cpu. basically something that is Linux compatible and wont use my cpu at all. Right now when I'm playing music and go to connect to the internet it skips for a few seconds while it initializes the modem. Also my budget is also around $30-$35 I've been looking at US Robotics modems because that is what my Computer Networking teacher recommends, so I would like to try to stick with that or another major brand. Thanks in advance.

I laugh at people that say "well my mac doesn't get viruses!" That's like bragging that nobody breaks into your shack and steals your lawn chair.

I've got more faith in Michael Jackson safely babysitting my cousin, than I do in Windows.
