I play everything from blues, to metal

I'm playing though a KX1200 PA combo with a magicstomp now and the sound is fairly good IMO
(Have a look at my myspace page to hear for yourself)

I'm looking into a guitar amp now.

I have a limit of just $300 and want to start playing at parties and schools
...so I'm guessing around 50W or higher

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You don't need 75W to play small parties. You could play a venue like that comfortably with a 5W Epi Valve Junior. Fender's Pro Jr is a 15W tube amp that sells for right around $300, and will classic rock and blues great. If you want something with a wide variety of sounds and built in effects, you could look into the Vox Valvetronix series.

Might be able to get a used Blues Jr or Crate Palomino V16 for @ $300, the Crate for less. Each would do the job nicely.
You Don't Need a halfstack.

You Don't Need 100W.
