i bought a 1977 gibson RD standard bass off of ebay(thats like the only place to get em) and im really happy with it. i was just wondering if anyone out there has anymore experience with them and can tell me important thing i need to know or if its a piece of crap thanks

thats a really nice bass, they are very rare basses compared to its active brother the RD Artist. I think you might need pretty long scale strings because of the string through body. also be careful with the bass because you dont want that neck snapping at the headstock

I played the RD Artist in the past I thought it was one of the best Gibson Basses made, I never played the RD Standard though.

Those basses are soooo sexy. The headstock, not so much though.

yeah some people dont like them and thats fine, i think it mainly is the fault of the EB-0 and EB-3 and EB-4L for that
