I have been doing a whole lot of research on amps lately and I am having trouble narrowing it down. I want a head so dont bother suggesting a combo...

I have been looking at 5150/6505, Mesa Tripple rectos, Genz-Benz El Diablo, Rivera, and some boutique amps; Voodoo and Mako, which can both be heard on the web sites.

Price Range: Hopefully around $1500. Of course used and cheap is always good.

Music style: I play originals...along the lines of Killswitch with influences of Megadeth, Cradle of Filth, and a lot of European death metal.

Any other amp suggestions??
Or anyone own or have tried any of the listed amps and have anything to say about them?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I've heard great things about Genz-Benz's diablo, but I would suggest you try check out triple rectifier...alot of gain and force.

I suppose I should take the mesa off the list. My bandmate has one, so I have been able to use it and try it out. I like it...but some of these other amps just make me all warm and tingly...

Mesa's aren't that bad in the US. They usually are from 1000-2000+

depending on the # of channels needed, i'd suggest the following amps:

- Laney TT100 (3 channels)
- Laney GH100 (1 channel)
- Madison Divinity (2 channels)
- Randall RM100 (with Bogner XTC, Marshall SL+ or Randall Ultra, and Fender Blackface Deluxe modules)
- Krank Revolution (2 channels)

check into those and let me know what you think...

Ok I think we can officially add Madison to the list. I'm not a huge fan of Randall or Krank. And I'd rather not buy a UK amp that I cant hear with my set up before buying.

i did a little more research and here's what i came up with:

Killswitch Engage, Unearth, Obituary, and Lamb of God are endorsed by Framus amps.
Amon Amarth are endorsed by Hughes and Kettner MKII amps.

if i find more, i'll let you know

ya im pretttty sure lamb of god uses mesas, but i only saw them recording with them in a video, which cant show much...

Ok well thanks for the whole two people who actually posted something useful in this thread rather than posting totally off subject crap.

*sigh* I guess I will just keep looking around...
