Im looking for recomendations for pickups and positions for acheiving a funky/disco rhythm guitar sound. Its an unusual request i guess, amidst all the "EMG" shredders, but thats not what im after on this guitar.

Im after emulating that "glassy" stratty disco sound that 70s bands got.

Good single coils and a compressor should cover it. They didn't really use after market pickups back then, or not as commonly as they do today. Make sure your amps cleaner than clean too, the guitarist would sometimes go straight into the mixing desk to get that skinny sounding attack.
Check out an EHX Q-Tron, too. I can sound like the Bee Gees thru a Valve Junior with that thing without even trying!

And I can say that because I'm never trying to sound like the Bee Gees!
You Don't Need a halfstack.

You Don't Need 100W.
