I'm in a band and i'm looking for another guitar to be tuned to C standard. I own a Mesa Roadster, so no need for a new amp!
No need for cleans (I have another guitar that is great for that sort of stuff), only looking for a guitar that will give me a great brutal distortion.

Price Range:
About $1000, but if there is a guitar that is above my price range that I should really consider saving for, by all means share! I'm trying to narrow my search for the perfect guitar.

Some things I want in a guitar:
Mahogony body
Hot, modern pickups
2 pickups
It would be a big plus if the guitar had 24 frets
Needs to look reasonably nice

Some guitars I've been looking into:
LTD EC-1000 (Cherry Red)
ESP Eclipse II (Slightly out of my price range...should I save for this?)

Share your opinions! Suggest any guitar from any brand that would fit my playing style and price range. Thanks!
My Rig:
PRS SE custom
cube 60
Dual Rectifier Roadster (2X12 combo)
DR strings
EHX Multiplexer

Schecter Hellraiser?
Jackson DKMG?
Ibanez RGA121 + EMGs?

The LTD and the ESP are good choices too.

A Fernandes Dragonfly, they hold drop tunings REALLY well, and they sound awesome too.
New tracks on my profile! Please check them out and see what you think!

I see that it comes with a sustainer built in....pretty cool!

I also like the hellraiser. I'll take both into consideration next time I go to the guitar store.
Thanks.

Do you want a tremelo? most people will flame me for even thinking of a tremelo when you clearly said you were down tuning. but my FR is in C and my Kahler Flyer is in C#, and they hold tune and work fine.

Anyhow, if you want a tremmy, go for a Cort X-TH. there ****ing Tank.

looks like the Schecter C-1 Hellraiser would work for you. it has two active emg's(81/85), mahogany body, plus it looks pretty nice imo. but your the judge.

^the hellraiser looks just plain sexy!
I absolutly LOVE my PRS, but I want a guitar to be dedicated as a low-tuning guitar. I want a fixed bridge because it is less of a hassle.
Thanks for the idea's...keep em coming.

EDIT-That Ibanez looks nice...what modle is it?

If you really want to save up some money, you could get a Caparison Dellinger... but they are ****ing expensive (I think two times your price range)!! supposively they are absolutely amazing for drop tuning, and they do look very sexy (don't have a pick, sry). in your price range... Some ESP/LDT or Schecter (alot of the guitars mentioned are good choices).
Current Rig:
Gibson Firebird Studio
Limited Edition Schecter 35th Anniversary C-1
Schecter Jeff Loomis Signature 7 FR
Ashdown Fallen Angel
Custom 7 Firebird from Ignition Custom Guitars (check them out)

I wasn't going to go that low...just to C standard max. Can you tune your baratone up? Won't that warp the neck?
