Anyone tried this amp? Is it really all that versatile?

Also, is there another way to get it when not in the UK aside from having it sent to a friend in the UK then having them ship it here?

It's a fantastic little amp. I'll be getting one myself pretty soon. Very warm thick sounding.
Great for blues -> hard rock.

You can purchase them from online stores in the US, but because Laney is UK based, they're alot more expesnive than getting them in the UK.

You can also get them new on eBay.

Sure it would be fine for jazz, but most jazz players I know prefer solid states for a flatter tone. It would be good if your into the smooth jazz sound.

You're deffinately going to need an OD pedal to push it into the metal area.

Um... no we don't necessarily. A lot of jazz players (myself included) prefer the warmer tone of a tube... But i like the smooth sound better like tones of wes montgomery or joe pass. Damn, it's worth $800 :p

Why I said "most jazz players i know"

IMO, for $800 i'd deffinately have a look around before you settled on it.
Your spending an extra $200 or so on what is basically import costs.
Don't get me wrong it's a good amp. But there's probably some better ones out there you could get from US that would actually be genuinely worth $800.
