I was 13.

My first REAL metal band was Black Sabbath, but I liked all the mainstream nu metal and such.

Disturbed was my first HEAVIER band, but they aren't counted as metal, so that doesn't count.

I was just learning to play guitar and my uncle played "Paranoid" or something, and I was like, "Hey, I've heard this..." and the same thing went on for "Iron Man" and "War Pigs", so I just got more and more into them.

I win. I think I was about 4 when my brother and his friends had me listening to Metallica and Megadeth. I specifically remember Megadeth- Lucretia with the laugh in the beginning that would scare me.

Hmm judging from your pic you'd fit in more with a fat busted tribute.

Like, pretty much when I was born, because my dad likes Sabbath and Ozzy (more into blues and country now). When I was like 6 my brother gave me my first Metallica album (I think it was my first cd of my own). But I didn't get into stuff like CoB, Opeth and Pantera until this summer, mostly because I had never heard of them and becasue I used to hate the screaming and growling, but I like it now.

My soul was conceived of the most Brutal Troo Metal: Created by Satan himself in the mighty forges of Hell and therefore I was metal before the dawn of time. You lose.

I've been listening to Scorpions and Gn'R for my whole life but I guess my introduction to true metal happened when I was 12 and I found the tabs to 'You're Better Off Dead' in a guitar magazine and thought 'Huh! This guy looks like a chick, kinda like 80s style! I should give it a listen!' and I loved CoB right away.

How can that be more metal than the actual substance of metal?

You may be more Evil/Satanic. But you sure as hell aren't more metal. Plus I was here first.

YOU Lose.

Went like this:

Manson>Slipknot>Metallica>Megadeth>Mayhem>Behemoth

It just went on, through many other bands, and genres.

The Number of the Beast was on the soundtrack list for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, and i found myself replaying it over and over. that game came out early 2002 i think, so i was 11 when i first started getting into metal.

I started listening to rock when I was about 3 (I never really appreciated it then) I had listened to metal, prog., and all the other good shit...

Drifted away at age 9 moved on to rap unfortunately...

Then I Went through an experamental age where I listend to everyting rock from Classic to
Grindcore then I soon found my groove at age 12.

12 years old, a friend of mine played some COB, and then gradually, I shifted more towards metal and farther away from the hard rock/indie bands I used to listen to a lot. I still do like those bands (Modest Mouse is one of my favorite bands, even now) but metal makes up about 99% of my music diet.

And Dyer's Eye:
