I was wondering if anyone has ever upgraded their guitars from .9's to .10's without adjusting the truss rod and having it specifically set up for .10's. Does it make the intonation really messed up or will it be fine and not make a difference. Our local guitar shop around here has closed up and I usually took my guitars there to get upgraded to 10.'s I was wondering if it would work to put .10's on a guitar without adjusting the truss rod. Thanks for any help!
Going from 9 to 10 you probably don't need to adjust the truss, but I would check the intonation. Although it may not even need a change. You should also learn how to do that stuff yourself. Not only is it way cheaper but I would feel a little embarassed taking my guitar to a shop to get strings changed.
done it on my SG and it didnt make any difference
yeh itll be fine. if you have a tremolo you may notice tiny differences in intonation and bridge height but nothing much at all.
I change strings on my own, but I have never upgraded a guitar from .9's to .10's and adjusted the truss rod and such.
A lot of guitars come stock with 10s installed on them, I doubt you'd have a problem
I think I have .9s on my guitar (never changed them). What if I changed to .11s?
then you might need it sorted a bit, i tried it once and my intonation was way out and theneck was bowing a bit
I didnt on my strat - truss rod was fine - everything else (floating bridge etc.) were way out though.
