hi,

im sanding down the body of a bass im working on right now, and i might sand down the neck, but is there any thing special i should know? Cause i want it to retain its finish and is there something special that i would need to do to keep the finish, its a Dean Playmate Edge 09 bass to give you an idea what the finish is.

when you say 'retain the finish' do you mean neck or body. But as soon as you start sanding you will lose you finish, and what is it about the finish you like so much?

er. if you full pledged sand the neck you'll take of material from the neck for sure (including finish) But you can sand a little bit so that there would still be some finish left on the neck but not as much as there was before...

if thats what you were asking?
