I'm wondering if EMG-ESP LH-300 humbuckers (Active Pickups) use batteries, or have a phantom power source, cause It sounds like the battery is dead, but I can't figure out where the battery is. Help?
Thanks

If it's active, it has batteries.

Look on the back of your guitar, there should be a little plate that you have to unscrew to get to the battery.

that's the back, I opened the panel that should have a battery, but I can't find one, and then the other one is just part of the tremelo
and I wasn't sure if they we're in the pickups or not so I took alook at that

Yeah, those are passive EMGs. Those specific models are called EMG H4's and don't require batteries. If you cant get any sound, then most likely you have a short.

That they are. That they are.

EDIT: Heeeey! You got your Rocker 30! How is it?

IT'S AWESSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMEEE11111!!!11!!!!11!

I'm glad you noticed too . Honestly man, I'm really enjoying it...the natural channel is VERY interesting, I think an fulltone OCD on that will make it cream. I really do prefer the dirty channel though, it's insane--the high gain, low gain, everything! What I do is I pull up the gain and roll back the volume knob on my guitar...it sounds very glassy, I like it alot.

Also, someone told me that orange measures the wattage by the clean channel...so the dirty channel is actually somewhat 50 watt tube...which explains why I can't crank it up to 3-4 without crying.

Well, there isn't too much fo a volume difference between 30 and 50, honestly. It's pretty imperceptible to the human ear.
And yeha, that makes sense. When you use the dirty channel and really crank the amp, you're pushing the tubes harder than under normal conditions, so going over 30 watts is likely. That's why attenuators usually should be 1.5 times the actual rated wattage. I think it's the same for speakers...
Man, now I HAVE to go to San marcos and try one out.

Depends. I go to very knowledgable shops.

Ah, I'll never be able to crank it.

Possibly at practices, but I think I'll kill the drummer in the process.

Yeah, I'm planning on doing so soon^. Possibly a weber attenuator, it's all good.

Ha, yeah, so do I...but I'm guessing that dude went to guitar center or something. Local shops FTW.

If the dude told you they were active, take it back and demand a refund + some kind of reimbursement. I hate it when guys at guitar stores rip off noobs.

EDIT: You make killing the drummer sound like a bad thing. It'll be like Spinal Tap, with less spontaneous combustions.

That...would be very amusing to see.

*strums chord with amp cranked full*
*Drummers head explodes*
person1: Dude, did that drummer's head just explode?
person2: lulz, spinal tap reference...!!1!

I was wondering, how much did you pay for that Orange? I've been looking at that model, and each time I see it, it seems better and better.

If you go and act like an asshole about it, I guarantee you'll be able to upgrade by at least $100. Maybe get a case or a free setup thrown in.

And Rocker 30s are about 1400 for a combo, 1200 for a head (USD).

Well, for retail it's about 1,350 USD without tax. I've managed to talk them down into...well, not putting tax on it. So I got it for 1350 which is not that bad.
