Making a movie about druggies and such...

There are a few scenes where there a characters in the midst of a good trip, so maybe songs for the sections, something like "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane, "Junkies Promise" by Sonic Youth, and just weird and awkward songs you know, songs you'd want to trip out to..

but also needing some really deep serious maybe depressing songs as well...

Any suggestions?

Drug Songs... Hmm I don't think there has ever been any...

Jimi Hendrix: Purple Haze, Are You Experienced
Led Zeppelin: Misty Mountain Hop
Black Sabbath: Hand of Doom, Sweet Leaf, Snowblind
Motley Crue: Dr. Feelgood
Lots of G&R, Ozzy: Flying High Again
Those are just OBVIOUS references to ILLEGAL drugs.

any lengthy kinda ballads? sad ones?

the film is inspired by my friend that just recently passed away because of a drug overdose (and you can read about it on the internet by searching "dana hooter san diego"....
i was good friends with the guy that "killed her" and her...
and it was a wake up call, a very extreme wake up call...

so i gotta find the right music for it... (it doesnt have a very happy ending either just so you know)

good suggestions though, i got them down...

Death Valley '69 would be an awesome song to trip out to...

and Big Long Now by Nirvana, Man In the Box by AIC, and practically anything by the Butthole Surfers

Edit: I'm real sorry about your friends man...I didn't read it before. How about a song like Today or 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins, not really drug-related, but they catch the sentiment I think

Not really drug related but for the sad stuff you might wanna try 3 Libras or Orestes by APC.

Drug related: Tool (maybe!), Queens of the Stone Age, Hendrix, No Quarter by Zeppelin would be really good.

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

EDIT: White Zombie, Thunder Kiss '65. Kyuss.

Psychopsilocybin by Incubus is about Mushroom highs, Rosetta Stoned by Tool is about DMT (massively cutting down the song content to 3 letters).

if its a good trip, then put on welcome to the machine or time by pink floyd, or something from darkside of the moon, or put burn the witch or tangled up in plaid by queens of the stone ae, that would be perfect
#23
Get the WCW themetune of Raven. It's based on Come as You Are and he was a druggy wrestler "I ain't doing this match unless you get me some coke!"

uuuuh, The Pusher by Steppenwolf
Kashmir - not dark or depressing but some good drug references
u want psychadelic songs or depressing withdrawl songs?

is ur movie like a "this is what happens to people on drugs?" or is it "look at the happy hippies sharing the love in the park"

if it is just a shot of some coked out kids i'd play Highway Star or the whooshy solo from Whole Lotta Love or Dazed and Confused, White Rabbits is good too
ooooooh, u know whats good is Tommorow Never Knows by the Beatles or Strawberry Fields, gl

Two bands who may not sing outrigth bout drugs but make good trippy songs are Sublime (they do make songs bout drugs) and 311 (just nice when yer high, plus I saw a live show when their bass player smoked a doob right on stage).
#32
^ 311 is a joke! They copy so much bands and do it SO poorly its not even funny. Not calling them bad though...

the 'Master' in master of puppets is supposed to symbolise how an addiction can control you, like making you turn to crime in order to feed it and stuff like that.
