Hey UGers, my school is holding a musicfest and I need some help choosing what I'm going to play. Preferably a song that is melodic fun, rocks hard, and not sad or depressing. I'm aiming for something rock or metal.

Also the band has got to be able to play it. My drummer is okay, and I'd say I'm intermediate. I can play most of Eugene's Trick bag by Vai, Aces High(w/solo's) by Iron Maiden, Master of Puppets+both solo's.

Anyone got any suggestions?

BTW IF ANY HERE IS FROM FR. MICHAEL GOETZ IN MISSISSAUGA POST HERE!!! I STILL NEED A SINGER AND BASS!

Thanks

I got nothing, but thanks for the cookies.

Edit: I feel bad for taking a cookie without giving you some ideas, so i came back. Try some Guns N' Roses or Ac/dc, if you're into classic rock.

Hmmm, not depressing eh? Well around here Amercian Idiot rocks hardcore, but wait, your from Amercia? Crap. Another song is one of the ones you know, that always works.
I took an IQ test and it showed a negative....

How about Master of Puppets ?

Well it would be great except I played it at last years show...

Try Paradise City by Guns N' Roses. If you can play that song well and have a bunch of stage presence then you will definitely overshadow any of the other bands that play. Just make sure it's the last song your band plays because you want to finish with a very strong song so that people will remember your performance.

Amazing song if you can pull it off:

In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

not that hard either.

If it's a competition, don't go and play some insanley hard rock, very rarely do people get what you're trying to do, or want to hear it.

I know i hate it when people try and play death metal at talent shows, it just doesn't work.

Try some classic song that everyone's going to know, some Ramones or something.

Sigh... don't play AC/DC or GnR... EVERYONE plays those.

Play something different... I like the Coheed suggestion as well.

Depends. If your school's known for its guitarists, something harder than the average song.
If your school's composed of idiots who like pop/rap, do Green Day.

And if they start booing, turn the gain and volume on 10.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

And to the other guy:I know I'm not doing death metal but i just want a hard rocking song, that will keep the audience entertained, not some slow mellow thing when they'll fall asleep.
